Head to Par-Troy Polling Places for Special Election

U.S. Senate candidate Steve Lonegan, a former mayor of Bogota, faces off against Newark Cory Mayor Booker Wednesday in the special election to fill the senate seat left vacant after the death of longtime Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

For the special election in Parsippany on Wednesday, there have been some changes in polling locations. For a list of the affected polling places, go to this Patch article. 

The polling places were changed due to "scheduling conflicts with the locations. The churches had set their schedule at the beginning of the year and have things planned for Wednesday and the Safety Academy had already booked all the classrooms for that date as well," said Yancy Wazirmas, Township Clerk.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. according to the township.

One 28-year Parsippany resident weighs in about the upcoming election. 

"The election, to be held on Wednesday, October 16, appears to be a much closer race than was predicted and will be decided on the believability of the candidates and their political leanings," said Jack Puglis. "My vote will be for Steve Lonegan ... The uncertainty that we see resulting from Cory Booker’s behavior is far too great to risk," and Puglis' research "show (Lonegan) to be an honest man."

Puglis detailed in his Patch blog reasons why he's backing Lonegan. 

Puglis said that Lonegan is a "proven tax-cutter," has a "limited government" platform, has "strong leadership abilities and is a "moderate conservative."

For Booker, "the man has a reputation as a slum-lord, owning a multiply-cited building that remains in dreadful repair.  It also showed him to be an absentee mayor who has let Newark’s crime spin out of control," said Puglis.
