Parsippany Celebrates Lunar New Year —Via Zoom
The year of the rat is gone, ushered out by the Ox. So what does that mean for 2021?

PARSIPPANY, NJ - Friday was the start of the Lunar New Year and Parsippany Mayor Michael Soriano participated in a celebration—virtually.
“Let us mark this occasion with good cheer as we begin a new year full of hope and promise," Soriano said. "With hard work and positivity we can achieve anything, this year and all our years to come.”
According to the Chinese zodiac, 2021 is the Year of the Ox, moving us away from the rat, which was our 2020 symbol. The recent years of the Ox in the Chinese Horoscope are: 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, and 2021. According to the zodiac, this year is going to be lucky and also perfect to focus on relationships, whether we are talking about friendships or love

The reason the new year falls at this time is because it marks the start of the lunar new year, which is when there is the start of a new moon. This is different to the 'Gregorian' calendar that we traditionally use, which always starts on Jan. 1.
