PARSIPPANY, NJ — With the Primary Election finally here, Parsippany Mayor Michael Soriano cast his ballot. Then he urged the public to vote.

"I want to thank the poll workers for providing us with a safe, secure and efficient voting experience," Soriano said in a statement. "As an American it’s our duty to vote in every election we can. People have given their lives for our right to vote. We must honor them by exercising our right to vote. No other election can have more effect on your daily lives than local elections. So, make a plan today and get out and vote.”

Registered voters can cast ballots at their local polling place until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Read more: Primary Election Day 2021 In Parsippany: When, Where To Vote

Parsippany's Democratic primaries for mayor and council are uncontested — candidates are running for two available council seats. But the Republicans have a more crowded field.

On the "Parsippany First" ticket, mayoral candidate and former Council President Louis A. Valori is running for mayor with council hopefuls Justin Musella and Gary Martin. Former Mayor James Barberio is running for his former seat. He and council candidates Frank Neglia and Deborah Orme comprise the "Team Barberio" ticket.
