Parsippany's Newest Kitty Cops Up For Adoption
They might not really be the newest members of Parsippany's Police Department, but they are looking for homes.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — It was an adorable April Fool's Joke: Parsippany Police Department joked that they had been selected into the "Cops and Cats Program," training kittens to be police officers.
"We are delighted that Parsippany was handpicked to be a part of this cutting-edge program and we are looking forward to having our newly trained animals and their handlers patrolling the streets of Parsippany! Pawsippany is truly the place to be!" Parsippany Police said, jokingly.
In a video shared to their Facebook page, the police department highlights their new kitten police officers as they go through their training.

"Cats are cheaper than dogs," the video says at one point, adding, "Cats rue... dogs drool!"
Of course, the cats aren't just adorable. They're also trained in narcotic detection (another joke), the video says, as it shows the kittens playfully jumping in the back of a cop car, and are comfortable on harnesses.

Instead of putting criminals behind bars, the cats themselves are currently in cages: All of the kittens and cats featured in the video are available for adoption at the Parsippany Animal Shelter.
Some have already found home, but others are still in the shelter. "If you do not live close by, please stop by your local shelter and see if your furever friend is there," the department said. "We would like to thank the Parsippany Animal Shelter, the Parsippany Hills High School T.V. Production Students and Patrolman Sadowski for putting this together."
