Pep Boys In Parsippany To Close Store, Continue Auto Work
The Route 46 location will continue auto repairs and maintenance.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — The place that "does everything for less" will soon have less of everything — at least inside its store. Pep Boys in Parsippany will shut down its retail operations but continue auto service, including repairs, according to a company spokesperson.
The 1440 Route 46 East location currently offers repairs but also has a retail store. A sign on the door says "BIG MARKDOWNS. EVERYTHING ELSE MUST GO. TAKE 40% OFF SALES FLOOR MERCHANDISE." Another sign clarifies that all sales on in-stock merchandise are final and may not be combined with any other sale, promotion or coupon.

The company did not provide a date for when store operations would end.

Other Pep Boys locations are making similar changes and shutting down retail operations, according to the company spokesperson. Icahn Enterprises, which owns the company, is shifting out of retail to concentrate on repairs and tire sales, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Pep Boys will reshift its focus to speeding up repairs by developing a national supply chain. The company will also invest in technology that will allow for digital vehicle inspections, two-way texting and mobile pay.
