Practice 5K Prep Day for Parsippany's Chapter of Girls on the Run

The team completed 13 laps around Parsippany's Veteran's Memorial Park

The 2018 spring season of Girls on the Run was rainy, but definitely not a washout, since on Thursday, March 31, 2018 the team successfully completed their seasonal practice 5K at Parsippany's Veteran's Memorial Park.

The girls on the team arrived to find that their volunteer coaches had beaten them to the track to decorate the park with individual signs of encouragement for each and every girl on the team.

The girls cheered enthusiastically for one another, as each ran at her own pace. Runners were warmly greeted by coaches at the culmination of their 13 laps.

The coaches ensured each girl had the opportunity to break through her own final ribbon, then gifted each participant with a Girls on the Run bracelet.

While many of the girls will be participating in the Florham Park Jaycees 5K run on June 9 this year, Coach Angela Vitellaro will be representing the team earlier, in Princeton this Sunday, June 3. Coach Angela is being honored by her company, Aflac, as one of only 3 employees selected during 2018 for her service to the community. She will be accompanied by a film crew to gather footage for their social media and website. Coach Angela is celebrating 7 seasons as a volunteer with Girls on the Run over the course of 3 years.
