Route 10 Down To One Lane For Friday Commute In Morris County

Water main repairs will have only one lane passable in Denville.

DENVILLE, NJ - A water main eruption that snarled traffic Friday morning will plague the evening commute as well as the New Jersey Department of Transportation has said only one lane will be passable on the thoroughfare.

Route 10 eastbound and one lane in the westbound direction were closed around 5 a.m. this morning and will remain closed for emergency repairs to a broken water main near Mount Pleasant Turnpike in Denville.

Denville Department of Public Works and NJDOT crews are on scene and have been working to make the necessary repairs and will remain on site until the repair is completed and the roadway is reopened, officials said.

The following Route 10 eastbound car and truck detours will remain in place until further notice:

Route 10 eastbound Car Detour:

  • Motorists wishing to travel eastbound on Route 10 will be directed to take the Franklin Road jughandle toward Denville/Rockaway/Shongum
  • At the end of the ramp, turn right onto Franklin Road
  • Turn left onto Mount Pleasant Turnpike
  • Mount Pleasant Turnpike merges onto Route 10 eastbound

Route 10 eastbound Truck Detour

  • Trucks wishing to travel eastbound on Route 10 will be directed to make a U-Turn at the Franklin Road jughandle toward Denville/Rockaway/Shongum
  • At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Franklin Road toward Denville/Rockaway
  • At the traffic signal, turn left onto Route 10 westbound
  • Turn right onto Salem Street
  • At the traffic signal, turn right onto Franklin Road
  • Turn left on Rockaway Road
  • At the traffic signal turn right onto Route 46 eastbound
  • Take Route 46 east past I-80
  • Take the exit for Route 53 southbound
  • At the end of the ramp, turn right onto Route 53 southbound toward Mount Tabor/Morristown
  • Follow Route 53 southbound back to Route 10 eastbound
