Second Pedestrian Death In Parsippany Under Investigation

Twice in less than a week a person was killed on a Parsippany roadway, police said.

PARSIPPANY, NJ - Twice in less than a week a person was killed on a Parsippany roadway, police said.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday Parsippany-Troy Hills Police responded to the area of 690 Route 46 West on a report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a car.

First responders located a man in the roadway, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle involved was not injured. It was determined that the man had been attempting to cross Route 46 while not in a designated crosswalk when he was struck.

The identities of these individuals will not be released at this time, authorities said.

The day before a 15-year-old girl was struck and killed by a car on Route 80 in Parsippany in the early morning hours of Tuesday. According to authorities the girl ran into the roadway near milepost 45.3 in Parsippany where she was struck by an unknown vehicle that was traveling eastbound. The impact caused fatal injuries, and she pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Members of the Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Department, the Morris County Sheriff's Office
Crime Scene Investigations Unit, and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit
participated in the investigation Wednesday. While the crash investigation remains ongoing, no criminal activity is suspected at this time.
