Smell Smoke? Its A 'Prescribed Burn' In Parsippany Friday
Officials say there is no cause for concern.
PARSIPPANY, NJ - Those who smell something burning or see smoke in the Old Dover Road or West Hanover Avenue area Friday have no cause for concern, according to officials who said it is all part of the plan.
Friday morning the New Jersey Forest Fire Service will be conducting two prescribed burns near Central Park of Morris County. One of the areas is the grassy field on the South side of Old Dover Road near Union Hill Road. The second area is on the Northeast corner of Koch Road and West Hanover Avenue.
A prescribed burn, also known as a controlled burn or hazard reduction burning, backfire, swailing, or a burn-off, is a fire set intentionally for purposes of forest management, farming, prairie restoration or greenhouse gas abatement.
