Stormy Weather Ahead; Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued In NJ

It's that time of year when most days of the forecast have a chance of thunderstorms. The next few days, including Father's Day, will be no exception — and some of the storms could be strong, according to the National Weather Service, which has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook.

There is a chance of rain and thunderstorms everyday in the forecast through at least Tuesday. Monday's storms, for which the Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued, could be strong and produce heavy rainfall and localized flooding.

Hot and muggy air, meanwhile, will return "with a vengeance" across the northeastern United States through Father’s Day weekend, according to AccuWeather.

Warm and muggy conditions will build over the weekend, according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Ryan Adamson in a release. The climbing temperatures and humidity levels, which will be more typical of mid-July, will put additional strain on those who are laboring outdoors or do not have air conditioning.

Ocean temperatures currently range from the upper 60s. Some residents partaking in warm-weather activities will have to dodge hit-or-miss thunderstorms that typically pop up in this type of weather pattern. On Sunday, however, a concentrated and vigorous line of thunderstorms threatens to create more hazards than just frequent lightning and sudden downpours, according to AccuWeather.

Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a high near 85. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. South wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. South wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
