Sushi Restaurant, Where Woman was Fatally Stabbed, Reopens with New Name

A little more than a year after a man stabbed a woman to death inside Kazumi Sushi, the Lake Hiawatha restaurant reopened with a fresh start about two months ago.

Aloha Japan is at the same location as Kazumi Sushi on Beverwyck Road and the restaurant confirmed that it has reopened with a new name, ownership and management.

The establishment, which features online ordering and a delivery service, replaced Kazumi, which became controversial in October 2012 when Yun Fei Lin, 33 of Parsippany, was found stabbed to death in the restaurant.  

Her husband Jiu Zian Zheng, 43 formerly of Parsippany, was arrested, pled guilty in October and was sentenced last month in to 20 years in state prison.

Zheng also received a five-year sentence for attempted aggravated assault, Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp said.

Zheng is an undocumented Chinese immigrant who operated the restaurant with his wife and admitted that he stabbed her because he believed she was interested in her business partner, Ren Lin.

The couple has two children and the community was stunned to hear of the murder.
