Tesla Supercharger Catches Fire At Parsippany Wawa

PARSIPPANY, NJ — A Tesla Supercharger station caught on fire outside of a Parsippany Wawa Sunday afternoon, police said.

The fire happened around 4:10 p.m., in the Wawa parking lot near the corner of New Road and Edwards Road. Police say the gas pumps were turned off during the fire, and JCP&L responded to cut power to the chargers.

Parsippany District 5 firefighters extinguished the flames, and said the area was safe by 5:30 p.m.

Wawa corporate and Tesla customer support were both made aware of the incident, police said.

It's not clear what caused the fire.
