Township-Owned Garbage Truck Hits Car In Parsippany: Police
The Parsippany garbage truck failed to stop in time at a red light, and both vehicles needed towing, police said.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — A Parsippany Township-owned garbage truck hit a car at a red light Wednesday on Route 46, police said. The truck driver failed to stop at the Smith Road traffic light, creating a collision that required both vehicles to get towed, according to authorities.
The crash took place at 1:07 p.m. Wednesday. Both the truck and the car traveled east on Route 46. The intersection includes two traffic lights about 50 yards apart.
The driver of the car told police she went through the first light when it was yellow but had to stop at the second light. The garbage truck driver traveled directly behind her through the first light but failed to stop in time at the second, police said.

A utility pole sustained "minimal damage" after the car hit it, police said.
No tickets were issued at the time of the police report.
