2 Princeton Restaurants Named Best In NJ For 2019
New Jersey Monthly magazine released its annual list of the best restaurants in the Garden State.
PRINCETON, NJ — Two Princeton restaurants were named among the top 30 in the Garden State for 2019, according to New Jersey Monthly magazine's annual list.
Elements and Mistral, both located on Witherspoon Street in Princeton, made the list. Both restaurants also made the magazine's list in 2018. For the full list of restaurants click here.
Elements, an upscale new American restaurant, offers a relaxing atmosphere where diners can enjoy "kick-ass" rock music playing in the background and see food prepared in the open kitchen. Chefs at Elements bring a personalized experience to diners as they bring food to the table and explain its elements.

"Combining ancient techniques with the state of the art, chef/co-owner Scott Anderson and chef de cuisine Mike Ryan produce food that is not just thought-provoking, but to use a rock term, mind-blowing — in flavor and composition, each course distinct. It’s some of the most advanced cooking in the state, but as the soft-spoken Ryan puts it, 'Elements is only aiming to be a fun place to eat.' In its own patient, esoteric way, Elements is one heckuva playpen," according to NJ Monthly.

Chef Joe Mooney, 31, took over Mistral last year. The upscale American restaurant offers "pleasure-packed food" during lunch and dinner.
"Seared scallops, for example, are rapturous beside green-leek cylinders cut to mimic the scallops’ shape. The dish is bolstered with white globes of brown-butter cauliflower purée and a lip-smacking garlic-anchovy sauce," according to NJ Monthly.
The magazine goes on to rave about the Ramp fettuccine with Jonah crab and asparagus, the burgers and"extravagantly conceived" desserts.
