Beware Of Social Security Scams In Princeton, Police Say
Princeton Police are warning residents about a Social Security scam after receiving multiple reports in town.
PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton Police are warning residents about a Social Security scam after receiving multiple reports in town.
"This department has recently fielded several reports where victims are stating that an unknown person applied for unemployment benefits with their personal information," Princeton Police said.
The Social Security Administration and Department of Labor is conducting its own investigation and no further information is available.

To contact the Social Security Administration and Department of Labor office call 609-777-4304 or Fax 609-292-5593. Police have also provided some other helpful tips and resources:
- If the victims of Social Security Benefits set up an account, they can log onto www.ssa.gov and "Block their SSA Account" and their information would not be disseminated.
- They can also log onto www.Identiytheft.gov and follow the prompts.
- They can also call 866-964-0026 and follow the prompts to speak with a representative.
- As always they should contact ALL credit reporting agencies and check same for 90 days.
