Blue Point Grill, Princeton Raises Funds For Breast Cancer

The restaurant has contributed over $600,000 towards fighting breast cancer in the past 21 years.

PRINCETON, NJ — For the past 21 years, Blue Point Grill has been raising funds to fight against breast cancer.

In 2000 they began the Oyster Bowl, to coincide with Super Bowl. Patron would come in to watch competitors try to eat as much oysters as they can in two minutes. “It grew into this big event and we were able to raise funds to help fight breast cancer,” said Kristina Daniels assistant general manager at the restaurant.

For the past six years, the restaurant has partnered with YWCA Princeton’s Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC) to help raise funds through the Pink Pearl Week.

“We would have an eight-course dinner, five years in a row. But this year due to the pandemic, we’ve changed things up a bit,” said Daniels.

Through Feb. 9, the restaurant will be donating 15 percent of all online orders sales to the YWCA’s BCRC. Pink Pearl specials will also be available for dine-in customers. The promotion was supposed to run from Feb 1 to 7 but the recent snowstorm saw the restaurant push back the dates.

“We’ve been here (Princeton) for years. This is just a way for us to give back to the community and helping people,” said Daniels.

With New Jersey recently increasing indoor dining capacity to 35 percent, Daniels said the restaurant is trying its best to keep its “head above water.”

“The pandemic has been challenging for all of us. But our clientele is amazing. We are fortunate to have such outpouring of love from our community during these times,” she said.
