Dr. Santa Brings Joy to Children at St. Francis Medical Center

Since the program's inception, thousands of toys have been donated for pediatric patients

“Dr. Santa” will be bringing gifts to the pediatric patients at the St. Francis Medical Center Emergency Room on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The Dr. Santa Program was started in 1994 by Physicians’ Practice Enhancement’s (PPE) President and CEO, Dr. Joseph Calabro, who says, “No child wants to spend their Christmas in the Emergency Room. Our hope is that the Dr. Santa Program will bring a smile to each child’s face.” Since the program’s inception, PPE has donated thousands of toys to the pediatric patients visiting the Emergency Departments they manage.

The Emergency Department’s Medical Director, Dr. Valerie McLaughlin, in collaboration with PPE, and Chambers Emergency Associates will present each treated child, ages 12 and under, with a special age appropriate toy or game. Toys will be distributed beginning on Christmas Eve at 6 pm and continue through Christmas Day.

PPE is a full-service physician management organization providing integrated service lines including: Emergency Medicine, Hospitalist/House Programs, Intensivists, Pathology, Behavioral Health, Anesthesiology, Observation Units, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Advanced Practice Nurses, Insurance Provider Enrollment, Physician Billing and Coding.
