Princeton Juneteenth Block Party: The Princeton University Alumni and YMCA Princeton are hosting their second Juneteenth block party. The event will be held at the YMCA Family Field from 4 p.m. onwards. The event will celebrate the cultural achievements of Black Americans and commend the efforts of activists for the Black Lives Matter movement. Listen to Black artists, speakers, and activists while also learning how to take action in your own communities, both geographically and socially. Attendance is free.
Juneteenth Weekend Celebration - Discover Jersey Arts: Grounds For Sculpture Hamilton is partnering with other local organizations to present the first-ever Juneteenth celebration across multiple locations in the county. It is hosted by the African American Cultural Collaborative of Mercer County (AACCofMC) in partnership with the NJ Legislative District 15. Also collaborating for the event are the Outdoor Equity Alliance (OEA), the Mercer County Park Commission (MCPC), and the City of Trenton. Enjoy painting, poetry, storytelling, dance, and more. The purpose of this socially distanced event, from June 18 to 20, is to highlight poignant and current issues through displays of culture, collaboration, commerce, unity, and education. Juneteenth- A Celebration of Freedom, Outdoor Movie: The Hopewell Valley Arts Council in partnership with the Hopewell, Mercer County and Pennington Libraries will honor Juneteenth with an outdoor movie at Woolsey Park on Friday, June 18 at 8:30 p.m. Juneteenth - A Celebration of Freedom, a 30-minute documentary produced by the Texas Institute for the Preservation of History and Culture, will be screened. The film offers an insightful perspective on this significant day in American history. Admission is free. But don't forget to bring your own folding chair or a blanket. The Princeton Festival: The list is incomplete with The Princeton Festival. On Sunday, June 20 at 7 p.m., enjoy "Opera by Twilight," a concert of arias and ensembles featuring four singers performing audience favorites from the 18th through the 20th centuries with piano accompaniment. The concert will be held at Princeton’s Morven Museum and Garden. Click herefor details.
McCarter Concerts in the Square By Ritmo Caliente, Palmer Square: On Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., enjoy a free outdoor performance in the heart of Princeton. The McCarter Concerts in the Square is for residents and visitors, with no tickets required. This week Latin orchestra Ritmo Caliente will play a large variety of music including salsa, merengue, ballads, waltz, jazz and songs from the 50s.
