Gov. Murphy Endorses Sam Joshi For Edison Mayor
Murphy's endorsement comes after the Edison Democratic Organization endorsed Mahesh Bhagia, the chairman.

EDISON, NJ — Gov. Phil Murphy recently announced his endorsement of Samip ‘Sam’ Joshi for Mayor of Edison.
In a statement, Murphy said Joshi had the “experience, passion, and vision needed to unite Edison.”
“As mayor, Sam will create a new township master plan and prioritize smart investments, such as municipal broadband.”

Murphy said he was looking forward to working with “all County-endorsed candidates to ensure victory this June and beyond.”
Three democratic candidates have filed their petitions to run for Mayor of Edison — newcomer Arthur Esposito, Edison Democratic Organization Chairman Mahesh Bhagia and Joshi.

The winner of the primary will face Republican Keith Hahn, who is running unopposed in the Republican Primary.
In a Facebook post, Joshi thanked Murphy and said he was “incredibly grateful and humbled” for his endorsement.
“This is a huge boost of momentum for our campaign and I pledge to work as hard as I can to win this race and bring new leadership to Edison,” Joshi said.
Joshi recently announced a full council slate that will be running alongside him — Margot Harris, John Poyner and Nishith Patel.
Murphy’s endorsement comes after the Edison Democratic Organization endorsed Bhagia, who happens to be the chairman.
The Democratic Primary will be held on June 8.
