Help Raise Money to Build a "Buddha Bus"

Part of a new Patch series that will feature a different local Go Fund Me campaign each week.

A local Zen Buddhist monk and leader of the Original Mind Zen Sangha, a registered non-profit, is raising money to purchase a used school bus to convert into "The Buddha Bus."

Sound intriguing?
Here is some more information directly from the campaign:

"Imagine a 71-passenger school bus with all of the student seats removed; the floors resurfaced in hardwood; the metal walls and ceiling thinly insulated and covered with a light wood paneling; two RV air conditioners mounted in the roof. The altar will sit at the back wall, two aisles of meditation cushions running the length of the bus. If space permits, we can even add a small bathroom with a sink and toilet like the ones on an airplane. Inside, we can hold meditation and Buddhist services for at least 25 people.

When all is said and done, it will look something like this on the inside, minus the furniture--just a bare, clean and inviting space for Buddhist practice.

The outside will be painted with bright, vivid Buddhist iconography and the words "Buddha Bus" written in bold, inviting letters for everyone to see.

The bus will meet anywhere public--in a park, a parking lot, you name it."
