Man Who Allegedly Attempted to Lure Rider Student Found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity

The Lawrence man who allegedly grabbed a Rider University coed and tried to force the 19-year-old woman into his car in March, 2011 has been found not guilty by reason of insanity, according to a report on Nj.com.

Tony Kadyhrob, 70, appeared in Superior Court this week, but seemed surprised by the ruling, which was announced last month at a hearing he did not attend,according to the report. He also seemed surprised that Jennifer Gottschalk was still acting as his attorney since he said he fired her.  

According to Nj.com, Gottschalk said her client missed last month's hearing due to a scheduling error and that because his glasses were broken in jail and have not yet been replaced, it's difficult for him to read case-related documents. She said the judge on the case requested she say on as Kadyrhob's counsel after he tried to fire her. 

In December, 2012, a Superior Court judge ruled that Kadyhrob was not mentally competent to stand trial.

The alleged incident happened on Rider’s campus in Lawrence Township on March 28, 2011. In July of that year, a grand jury indicted Kadyhrob – a resident of the 2000 block of Princeton Pike – on attempted kidnapping and luring charges.

Shortly after Kadyhrob posted bail for that incident, police said he was spotted on The College of New Jersey campus in Ewing.

A judge banned him from setting foot on any school or college campus in New Jersey and was he ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

Princeton Borough Police later spotted Kadyhrob on a street just blocks from the Princeton University campus on April 6. 

Kadyhrob was detained by police but released without charges because he was not actually seen on any school property.
