Mercer County Invites Public To Contribute To 4-H Fair

Any project created during the past year can be entered in the fair, including arts and crafts, photography, gardening, and more.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — The Mercer County 4-H Fair is just around the corner, and the County is inviting the public to submit their entries in the "open division.”

There are many open division categories for public entries, and one need not be a 4-H member to exhibit. Any project created during the past year can be entered in the fair, including arts and crafts, photography, gardening, clothing, woodworking, and more.

Public entries will be received on Thursday and Friday, July 29-30, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Howell Living History Hopewell Township.

For the first time this year, fairgoers will vote for their favorite exhibits in each category on Saturday, July 31, and those receiving the most votes will be recognized on Sunday, Aug. 1.

The annual fair is an event showcasing the talents of the general public as well as those of 4-H members. The 102nd annual Mercer County 4-H Fair will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 31, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 1. Admission and parking are free. The opening ceremony is on July 31, at 1 p.m. in the Show Tent.

The fair also includes children’s activities like hayrides, animal shows, music, and farm tours. A variety of food and drink, including homemade ice cream, will also be available.

4-H is a youth development program by Rutgers Cooperative Extension, that provides research-based, hands-on learning experiences for youth in Mercer County.
