Not Taylor Ham: Trenton Thunder To Don Pork Roll Uniforms In 2018

The Pork Roll Thunder will become a Friday night staple during the minor league baseball team's 25th anniversary season.

Beware The Pork Roll! Each Friday night this season, beginning May 18, the Trenton Thunder minor league baseball team will take the field as The Thunder Pork Roll. It’s a special uniform the team will wear in honor of its 25th anniversary season, the team announced.

"Pork Roll is a New Jersey staple that can be served on everything from breakfast sandwiches to burgers, and we're thrilled to celebrate it on a daily basis at ARM & HAMMER Park," Thunder GM/COO Jeff Hurley said. "Re-branding ourselves as the Thunder Pork Roll on Friday nights is the perfect way to celebrate a Garden State favorite."

Pork Roll arrived in 1856, and is also known as Taylor Ham. New Jersey natives take their Pork Roll seriously, and not just when it comes to fist fights over the stolen food. It is celebrated by the Trenton Pork Roll Festival. For the last three years, the Trenton Thunder has hosted the World Famous Case's Pork Roll Eating Contest.
