Phone Scam Targets Mercer County Residents: Sheriff

PRINCETON, NJ: Sheriff of Mercer County, Jack Kemler, has warned residents regarding a jury duty related telephone scam. Kemler’s officer warned of the scam in a press release to Patch.

Over the past week, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office received complaints from residents stating they received calls telling them they owed money for missing jury duty over the summer. The scam caller, who spoke in an aggressive tone, instructed residents to meet them at the County Courthouse to pay $2000 in bail, said the statement.

Kemler said these calls are scam, and at no time will the sheriff’s office call residents demanding money for jury duty enforcement.

In the statement, the sheriff’s office advised residents to hang up on such calls and report it to 609-989-6111.
