Popular Farmers Market In Mercer Co. Canceled For Spring
Capital City Farmers Market, which was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19, will not be opening this spring.
MERCER COUNTY, NJ — The popular Capital City Farmers’ Market will not be opening this spring, the Trenton Downtown Association (TDA) announced.
The market, which was canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, attracts thousands of visitors to Mill Hill Park every Thursday from May to October.
Since the pandemic, the TDA said they have "remained extremely cautious" about hosting large-scale gatherings. They are currently focusing on supporting businesses in its Special Improvement District (SID) impacted by COVID-19.

As business continues to pick back up and COVID-19 cases reduce, TDA hopes to add staff to operate the farmers’ market.
“We will be reaching out to our vendors to offer support until we can safely and effectively reopen. We are fully committed to doing what we can to help the farmers and vendors who are such a valuable resource for our community,” said Amanda Donald, Marketing Director for TDA, who operates the Capital City Farmers’ Market.

Meanwhile, the TDA has encouraged residents and restaurants to buy from local farmers.
“It’s more important than ever that we support our local businesses,” Donald said.
“We will be adding an updated listing of farmers and vendors to our website at trenton-downtown.com as well as featuring them in our marketing."
