Princeton Football Team Picked To Finish Second In Ivy League

Yale was pegged to repeat as conference champions, but Princeton received three first-place votes.

PRINCETON, NJ — The Princeton University football team was picked to finish second in the Ivy League, but received three first-place votes from media that covers the conference. Yale was picked to repeat as conference champions.

Yale, which was 9-1 last season, seized 129 points in the preseasons poll, while Princeton finished second with 104 points. Harvard was third with 99. Princeton and Harvard were both 5-5 last season. To view the full poll, visit ivyleague.com.

Princeton is looking to turn things around behind two players who were named to the STATS FCS Preseason all-American team. Senior wide receiver Jesper Horsted has been named to the second team, while senior John Lovett was named third-team special teams (all-purpose). Lovett was named the Ivy League's Offensive Player of the Year in 2016, but missed last season due to an injury. He is set to return for his senior year.

Princeton will open the season Sept. 15 at Butler. The home opener is Sept. 22 against Monmouth. The top two teams in the preseason poll will meet at Yale on Saturday, Nov. 10.
