Alleged Shoplifter Arrested at Blue Mercury in Palmer Square

The following incidents were reported by Princeton Police.

On Dec. 5 at 8:15 p.m., police arrested Richard Gerner, 41, of Somerset after a store employee at Blue Mercury in Palmer Square reported a shoplifter. Police identified Gerner as the suspect and he was charged with shoplifting. He was released on his own recognizance pending a court date.

On Dec. 6 at 3:54 p.m., a caller in the 100 block of Nassau Street reported that sometime overnight, an unknown person stole a large Christmas wreath that was hanging on the outside of the building. The wreath is valued at $35.00.

On Dec. 7 at 10:12 a.m., a victim in the 200 block of N. Harrison Street reported that between 7:35 a.m and 8 a.m., someone had entered their unlocked vehicle and removed a wallet and its contents, along with other personal items. The total loss is estimated at $150.

On Dec. 8 at 12:27 p.m., an employee at Landau's on Nassau Street reported that someone had tried to shoplift items from the store. The suspect, described as a white female, 5’6”, between 150-160 lbs with dark hair and wearing all black, was allegedly confronted by store employees after she seen putting store merchandise into her purse. After the confrontation the suspect removed the items from her purse and fled from the store. The items, valued at $150, were all recovered.
