Spirit Of Princeton Cancels Memorial Day Parade Amid Coronavirus

No decision has been made for the Spirit of Princeton's Flag Day ceremony scheduled for June 15.

PRINCETON, NJ — The Spirit of Princeton has canceled its annual Memorial Day Parade, scheduled for May 23 due to the new coronavirus pandemic.

"This annual salute to all those who have served our nation, however, will be back as vibrant as ever in May, 2021. COVID-19 may have thwarted the parade, but in no way has dampened our spirit and commitment to the community," Spirit of Princeton stated.

No decision has been made for the Spirit of Princeton’s Flag Day ceremony scheduled for June 15.

The Memorial Day Parade and commemoration ceremony are financed by the Spirit of Princeton, a charitable non-profit group of local residents dedicated to bringing the community together through a variety of civic events, including the Memorial Day Parade, Flag Day Ceremony, and the Veterans’ Day Ceremony. As of Friday, Princeton has reported its fourth death from the coronavirus. The 80-plus year old man is also the third death of a Princeton Care Center (PCC). Five patients at PCC have tested positive. Princeton has 75 total confirmed COVID-19 cases. The Princeton Health Department is currently monitoring 31 active cases that are in isolation, 41 cases have recovered.
