"We are extremely grateful for the many years of expertise and service that Greg Toal has dedicated to the football program at Don Bosco Prep," said Principal Robert Fazio.
Toal has coached many future NFL players, including Leonte Carroo, quarterback Matt Simms and Ryan Grant. NFL first-round draft prospect Jabrill Peppers played two seasons for Toal, winning state championships in each season.
"Coach Toal has not only elevated the Don Bosco Prep football program, but also New Jersey high school football to the national recognized playing field," Fazio said.
Offensive coordinator and former Seattle Seahawk Mike Teel, 30, has been appointed the new head football coach. Teel is a 2004 Don Bosco alumnus and led the Ironmen to a 23-0 record as a starter and state championships in 2002 and 2003. Teel also played for the New England Patriots and Chicago Bears.
Teel was the quarterback coach at Kean University and Wagner College before becoming a graduate assistant coach at Rutgers University.
"Mike Teel is the right man for the job as head coach to follow in the footsteps of Greg Toal," said Athletic Director Brian McAleer. "He will carry forward well the legacy of singular accomplishment and success that Coach Toal leaves behind."
