Ramsey Election Guide 2018: Who Is Running And More

Here's what you need to know to successfully navigate Election Day.

RAMSEY, NJ — Election Day is Nov. 6 and here is all the information you need to know about voting hours, polling places and more.

Who is running?

Republican incumbent Deirdre Dillon is running against Democrat Richard Muti for the mayor.

For the council, Republicans William Jones and Peter Kilman are running against Democratic challengers Jason Farrar and Carolyn Johnson.

When are the polls open on Election Day?

The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you are in line when the polls close, you are entitled to vote.

Five candidates are running for three, three-year terms on the Board of Education: Scott Kaufman, Keri Walsh, Nicholas Capuano, Mary-Ellen Fine, and Nicholas Chritopher Schifano.

How do I find my polling place?

  • Your polling place location is printed on your voter registration card.
  • Call the Bergen County election office at 201-336-6225.
  • Look it up online here.

Do I need any identification (ID) to vote?

If you register to vote by mail for the first time in your county, you will have to provide some form of identification.

If you register by mail, you will be asked by your County Commissioner of Registration to provide your driver’s license number or the last four numbers of your social security number. The numbers are kept confidential and are not given to anyone.

If you do not have a driver’s license number or a social security number, you can give a copy of a photo ID or a copy of a document that has your name and address on it.

Here are some examples:

A current and valid photo ID, such as:

  • New Jersey driver’s license
  • United States passport
  • Military or other government identification
  • Student or job identification
  • Store membership identification, like a Sam’s Club or Costco card

Or any document with your name and address:

  • Bank statement
  • Car registration
  • Government check or document
  • Rent receipt
  • Utility bill
  • Any other official document
