Lou Molino Scholarship Basketball Fundraiser Huge Success in Ramsey

The Dec. 27 girls basketball alumnae game raised over $1,700 for a scholarship fund in honor of a longtime coach.

It was old home week at Ramsey High School on Dec. 27, when alumnae from the girls basketball teams over the years showed up for a fun game and to raise money for a scholarship in memory of Lou Molino, a beloved coach.

"The fundraiser was an amazing success.  There were many tears and broken hearts when Lou passed away almost three years ago, but there were so many smiles and lots of roaring laughter," said Brett Roscoe, an RHS basketball alumna herself who now coaches the RHS girls varsity basketball squad.

Fifteen former athletes, including 1,000 point scorers and All-League and All-County selections, turned back the clock and raised over $1,700 for the scholarship fund, Roscoe said.
"I'm so proud to be a part of this and many thanks go out to all who helped make this event such a memorable experience," she said.

Many businesses in the community reached out to donate raffle prizes, such as a pair of Ranger tickets, a 90-day NYSC pass, and a bluetooth.  Good Energy Training in Allendale sponsored the t-tshirts worn by the participants and Houlihan's of Ramsey donated appetizer coupons for an informal reception after the game.

Roscoe gave special thanks to the Ramsey school administration, Ramsey Chamber of Commerce and game sponsors: Robert Tilton, Janet Molino, Corinne Distaso, Maritsa Nunziata, Maggie Gorman, Shannon McPartland, Steve Trocolar, Suzanne Clinton, Jane Triglia, and Joe Padovano.
