Have you ever thought of brain health as the completeness of physical, emotional, and spiritual health? Everything that we experience in our life, every movement, emotion, thought, and even our connection to our higher-self, is experienced through the brain. A healthy physical body aids us in developing emotional maturity. Mastering our body requires both physical and mental strength. Mastery of our emotions means that we are the creator of our happiness without depending on outside conditions. When we feel confident physically and emotionally, we naturally live with a sense of peace. A healthy, happy, and peaceful person is free to develop their creative power, thus maximizing their brain.
An important gift we have for brain health is neuroplasticity. A flexible brain means we do not follow the same routines and emotional responses, and we can see situations from a variety of points of view. Through inner-awareness, we are able to make conscious choices moment by moment. Body & Brain Yoga uses many exercises to increase the mind/body communication, bringing increased coordination and balance and internal awareness. And we use energy meditation to quiet our thinking. When our mind becomes relaxed, we can activate the right brain and can clear past negative emotional memories. All these different training methods help develop neuroplasticity.
Our internal environment then reaches an optimal state of stillness to recharge through deep breathing meditation. Body & Brain Yoga members often share that they feel relaxed, calm, and energized after completing a session, often holding this feeling with them through the remainder of their day. Maintaining a state of relax concentration, in the moment, is one of the best ways of managing brain health. If we continue training this way throughout our life, we can maintain physical and emotional health, and bring true meaning to our life. In this way, we can achieve a sense of fulfillment in our life-proof that our brain is healthy and reaching towards its creative potential.
