New Medical Practice Takes High-Tech Approach
The old-school and almost-forgotten house call gets a new-millennium facelift as a new medical practice in town tries new ways to bring the doctor to the patient.

A new and different medical practice in Ramsey is here, according to its owner, to serve the needs of Bergen County families.
Dr. Jyoti Mathews, a board-certified family physician and Ramsey resident, recently launched Eden Medical, which she says is different from other medical offices.
"It is a home-based concierge practice that seeks to optimize health through lifestyle, preventive medicine," the doctor said. "My mission is to teach and treat patients on how to change their lives in order to cut down on medication use, hospitalization rates, thereby, improving quality of life."
Mathews said the key to better health is spending more time with patients and being able to convince them to make an investment in themselves and for their long-term health by making changes in diet, exercise and other parts of one's lifestyle changes.
The most unusual part of the practice is that the physician makes the effort to come to the patient, rather than the other way around.
"My practice utilizes home visits, video and telephone visits and communication through secure messaging using an online electronic medical record," Mathews said.
