RAMSEY, NJ — A local high school student has received an award for her work in mathematics and science.

Ava Sciubba is a junior at Immaculate Heart Academy. She was among several students honored at the school's honors convocation for their academic achievements.

Sciubba received an award from the George Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Science. The award is given to a junior who has earned the highest cumulative grades in mathematics and science in her class.

Immaculate Heart Academy is an all-girls Catholic regional high school in the Township of Washington. About 800 students are enrolled at the school.
