The new coronavirus has changed life for all of us. Local businesses have taken a huge economic hit, but communities are finding creative ways to support the establishments they know and love.

In an effort to help local businesses in our communities stay connected and succeed, Patch will shine a light on some of them through a series of Q&A articles during this time.

We are located in a charming, historical three-story house, and offer the following services all under one roof: psychotherapy, drug and alcohol counseling, nutrition counseling with a registered dietitian, homeopathy, reiki, massage, body positive yoga studio (we welcome all bodies and offer specific classes such as yoga for addiction recovery, yoga for eating disorders and yoga for stress and anxiety), Pilates, meditation and life and grief coaching.

We also host many events, which include — but are not limited to — talks with spiritual leaders, drum circles, Girl Scout programs and sound healing meditations. We are open to everyone and also have specific expertise with eating disorders, negative body image, anxiety, addiction and depression.

How has the new coronavirus impacted your business and its employees?

Yes, we had to temporarily close our doors and furlough our employees. We are currently offering free classes online and certain donation-based programs online.

How can local customers support you now and in the future?

They can go here if they can and would like to donate money in $10 increments. Or, they can subscribe to our email list, follow us on Facebook , Instagram, Twitter, subscribe to our YouTube Channel and write us a review on Google.

They can book virtual appointments with our psychotherapists, our homeopath, our dietitian and our life and grief coach. They can also participate in our virtual classes and sign up for our upcoming virtual events (these include free and donation-based events).

Do you have any words of encouragement for your community?

Our lives are unfolding as they are meant to unfold, and the consequences of situations are impossible to predict. While we may feel like we are in a terrible time, we can never know what the result will be.

Maybe we needed this because our lives had spun out of control. Our culture's obsession with "business" took us away from what is really important, like spending time with our immediate family and loved ones. Let's embrace the time we have to stay home, and find solace in the fact that everything is temporary and we will be OK.

Are you offering any special services, promotions or hours during this time?

Yes! We offer free classes via Facebook Live every week, and we have several special events coming up, some of which are free and/or donation-based. Also, our dietitian, homeopath, and psychotherapists offer virtual sessions! For more information, follow us on social media, and visit our website and also sign up for our email newsletter. You can also email us at info@bodypositiveworks.com, or call 201-708-8448 and leave a message. We will call you back!

Are there any other outstanding businesses in town you think deserve some community support?

Yes! George's Deli of Saddle River, Lannie's Cleaners, Florescence Spa, Saddle River Cafe and Elmer's Country Store.
