The two greatest gifts that God has given us are the human body and the planet earth and collectively humanity has done a poor job being the stewards of those two precious gifts.

In the 2008 remake of the movie classic The Day the Earth Stood Still, Keanu Reeves plays an alien named Klaafu. His mission was to save the earth from the destruction by mankind, by eliminating mankind. Is that what it is going to take to protect our planet? I hope not.

Hopefully humanity can save themselves from their own destruction. In order to do that, we must start by:
1. Drastically reduce the consumption of fossil fuels
2. Eliminate the dumping of toxic waste into our air, water and soil
3. Recycle and reuse
4. Preserve the earth’s ecosystems
5. Practice sustainable farming methods and biodynamic farming
6. Reduce the growth of the world’s population
7. Have each and every one of us have our voices heard. Everyone and anyone can make a difference.
What can you do?
1. Consumers have the power of the pocketbook. This link has some suggestions on how to spend your money to support our planet.
2. Spread the word by posting and re-posting on social media how you feel about the protection of our environment. Social media is “Word of mouth on steroids”.
3. Tell the politicians how you feel and how you want to be represented.
4. Practice what you preach by conserving, recycling and reusing.
5. Support organizations such as:
We only have one planet and it is up to each and every one of us to protect our Mother Earth!
The early white settlers called Native Americans “Savages”, but the Native Americans respected the land and were true stewards of our planet. The settlers ravaged the disrespected the land. Who were the true savages?
Chief Hollow Horn Bear said it best and I will leave you with his words of wisdom from 1932, which is also on the above photo of the Chief – Some day the earth will weep, she will beg for her life, she will cry with tears of blood. You will make a choice, if you will help her or let her die, and when she dies, you too will die.
