In Randolph High School's Musical Even The Addams Deal With COVID

The reimagined Addams Family story will be performed from Thursday to Saturday.

RANDOLPH, NJ — Randolph High School Students are putting together a musical rendition of "The Addams Family," with a unique and contemporary twist.

Titled "The Addams Family, A New Musical Comedy," this version of the iconic story imagines the family dealing with the COVID-19.

"A pandemic affects every family, even The Addams Family, who have literally packed up their Central Park mansion and moved to the Jersey suburbs," Randolph Schools wrote on social media.

There's also love conflict with one of the youngest family members and the center of the plot.

"As if quarantine, moving, social distancing from his wife, and adjusting to suburbia wasn’t hard enough, Gomez Addams’ ultimate nightmare has come true: Wednesday Addams, his daughter, and the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family."

The show opens Thursday, at 8 p.m., with additional performances Friday and Saturday. Tickets can be bought online.

The performance will be held outdoors, at the Randolph High School Girls' Soccer Field. Groups will be placed in socially distanced pods, which will be attributed on a first come, first served basis. Each has a capacity of five people.

Masks are mandatory during the performance, which runs for 105 minutes.
