2 New Jersey ZIP Codes Most Expensive In US, Report Says

The annual ranking features the 100 most expensive ZIP codes in the country.

Two New Jersey zip codes are included in PropertyShark’s annual ranking of the 100 most expensive areas in the United States.

The list actually includes 117 ZIP codes because a number were tied in the rankings. PropertyShark compiles the annual list by using closed sale home prices as opposed to asking prices.

The No. 1 most expensive ZIP code on the list was in Atherton, California. The Atherton ZIP code was one of 30 in Silicon Valley that made the 2018 list. The second most expensive ZIP code was in Sagaponack, New York, and the third most expensive was in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood.

The New Jersey ZIP codes that made the list, and their median housing sale prices, were:

  • #33 Alpine, Bergen County (07620) $2,200,000
  • #100 Short Hills, Essex County (07078) $1,426,250

Overall, California had 82 ZIP codes on the list and the two cities with the priciest ZIP codes were New York and San Francisco. Read more via PropertyShark.

The communities have been previously named as among the best places to live in the country, though recent lists have left them out.

Short Hills does often get mentioned as having among the best school districts in the state, if not the nation.
