Best Day Ever Hopes To Help Ill Children Have Fun And Laugh
Second annual Ridgewood event sponsored by Michael Feeney's family. Feeney was 10 when he died of bone cancer in 2013.
Michael Feeney loved making people laugh.
Feeney left behind a legacy of laughter and enjoying life after he died in November 2013 following a four-year battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma, pediatric bone cancer. He was just 10 years old.
“There were so many great things about him,” Feeney’s mother Jill said. “He was a comedian. He enjoyed making funny noises and telling funny stories. He got a kick out of life.”

Feeney’s family launched the first annual Michael Feeney’s Best Day Ever last year.
The event kicks off with a fun color run. Participants wear white T-shirts and colored cornstarch is thrown at them. By the end, everyone is colored in a variety of colors.

There will be dunk tank, carnival games, a rock wall, and bounce castles, Feeney said.
Last year, 11 dozen butterflies were released into the sky, instead of balloons.
“Michael was very environmentally conscious,” Jill Feeney said. “He never liked releasing balloons because he thought they would choke birds and fish.”
Pre-registration is $20 per person, $50 per family. Entrance at the door is $25 per person, $70 per family. To pre-register, click here.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Michael Feeney’s Best Day Ever, Inc., a non-profit the family established, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the Chief Michael Feeney Junior Police Academy.
Jill Feeney started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to help ill children have their own “best day ever” through the Best Day Ever non-profit. More than $3,500 has been donated since the campaign began April 17.
