Bid Confusion Delays Maple Field Turf Cleaning

Village to rebid after multiple bidders who responded to request for proposals were apparently unaware of the project's details.

The Ridgewood Village Council will rebid a project to clean the turf at Maple Field, following a request for proposals that apparently confused a few potential vendors.

One of the bidders did not receive a requested information package, and “there was some confusion because potential bidders thought that it was the cleaning of natural turf instead of synthetic turf,” according to a resolution passed by the council to reject the sole bid on the project Dec. 11.

The resolution added that to remedy the issues the council had "decided that is is best to go out for bid again on this project."

Councilman Tom Riche had noted the reported issues at a work session earlier this month.

The project, approved in August at an estimated cost of $41,000, will be funded in part by a matching Open Space grant from the county.
