Comings and Goings in Ridgewood Schools

With school off for summer, education officials have been busy with retirements, resignations and finding new hires.

Aside from getting teachers ready for the new year, the district is looking to fill the positions formerly held by HR Director Gary Hart and Director of Curriculum and Instruction Regina Botsford.

Other top administrators like Business Admin Angelo DeSimone and Kerry Huntington, the director of special programs, also retired at the end of the 2012-2013 school year. Superintendent Dan Fishbein signed a new five-year deal and thus far all of the district's building heads are returning.

Here's a look at some comings and goings in Ridgewood schools, as posted on RPS e-news.

Ridgewood High School

*Christopher Foglio, Special Education Teacher (Biological Science), has resigned with four years of Ridgewood Service, effective September 16, 2013, or earlier if possible. 

*Paul Cronk has changed assignment from 1.1 FTE Art Teacher, Ridgewood High School, to 1.0 FTE Art Teacher, Hawes School, effective September 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 (from: $93,941 to: $85,428).

Benjamin Franklin Middle School  

*Marisa Mahoney was appointed Collaborative Special Education Teacher, effective September 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 ($64,423).

George Washington Middle School  

*Andrew Couch has been appointed Latin Teacher, effective September 23, 2013 or as soon after as possible, through June 30, 2014 ($61,923 pro-rated).

Hawes School

*Megan Roeder was appointed Third Grade Teacher, effective September 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 ($65,923).

*Paul Cronk has changed assignment from 1.1 FTE Art Teacher, Ridgewood High School, to 1.0 FTE Art Teacher, Hawes School, effective September 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 (from: $93,941 to: $85,428).

Orchard School  

*Danielle Duffy, Second Grade Teacher, will take a Leave of Absence, effective September 9, 2013 through December 10, 2013, with a reinstatement date of December 11, 2013.

*James Ross, Physical Education Teacher, will retire effective September 21, 2013 or earlier if a replacement is found, with 25 years of Ridgewood service.

Ridge School  

*William Thoman was appointed 0.2 FTE Music Teacher, Ridge and Willard Schools, effective September 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 ($12,485 pro-rated). 

Willard School  

*William Thoman was appointed 0.2 FTE Music Teacher, Ridge and Willard Schools, effective September 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 ($12,485 pro-rated).

Glen School: Infant Toddler Development Center  

*Rashida Hasan, Childcare Assistant, will retire effective July 1, 2013, with 15 years of Ridgewood service. 

*Elizabeth Gyde, K/Enrichment Head Teacher, has resigned, effective July 1, 2013. 

Education Center

*John Ryan Kenny was appointed Manager of Information Technology, effective September 23, 2013 or earlier if possible, through June 30, 2014 ($130,000 prorated). 

*Gary Hall, Manager of Human Resources, has resigned effective September 1, 2013, with five years of Ridgewood service. 

*Kenneth Bovasso has been appointed Purchasing Coordinator, Business Office, Education Center, effective August 1, 2013 or as soon after as possible through June 30, 2014 ($60,023).
