Dryer Fire Causes Evacuation of Ridgewood Apartment Buildings
Smoke and water damage reported at South Broad Street building.
No injuries were reported when a dryer caught fire at a S. Broad Street apartment building Thursday morning, forcing residents to evacuate.
According to Ridgewood Fire Cpt. John Albano, a dryer on the second floor of the three-story brick building caught fire around 9 a.m. Thursday. Firefighters were able to quickly put the small fire down. Tenants of the building evacuated, as did residents in adjacent buildings.
There was water damage on the first floor and smoke damage to other units in the building, according to Albano.
