Excessive Heat Watch: 110 in the Shade
Weather advisory issued through Friday. County cooling centers open today.

A large dome of high pressure has prompted an excessive heat warning hazardous weather outlook for our area through the Friday. Between the heat and humidity, the National Weather Service is predicting a heat index up to 110 degrees. Â
The county's regional cooling centers will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., as needed Thursday and Friday. Transportation can be obtained by calling (201) 368-5955:

The heat is expected to continue through Friday, possibly extending into Saturday, before (hopefully) breaking by Sunday. Here's a closer look at the forecast for the Franklin Lakes-Wyckoff area through the weekend:Â
Thursday:Â Sunny, with a high near 96. Heat index values as high as 104. Southwest wind between 6 and 11 mph.Â
Thursday night:Â Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.Â
Friday:Â Isolated showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 99. Heat index values as high as 106. Calm wind becoming west between 6 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Friday Night:Â Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. Calm wind.
Saturday:Â A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 99. Calm wind becoming west between 5 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Saturday Night:Â A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Sunday:Â Mostly sunny, with a high near 89.Â
