Glen Rock Arts Council Short Films Festival Planned

See a great movie, have a great meal Saturday night in Glen Rock.

GLEN ROCK, NJ - Locals can catch a good show and meal Saturday night in Glen Rock.

That evening, the Arts Council of Glen Rock will present an an hour of short films featured in the Black Maria Film Festival 2019 tour. Altogether, four short films will be shown in 60 minutes.

The films will be shown at Glen Rock Borough Hall, 1 Harding Plaza, starting at 5 p.m. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for members and seniors, and can be purchased on the Arts Councils' website or at The Creative Den, 216 Rock Road, Glen Rock.

According to the Arts Council, the evening's lineup is as follows:

  • Henrietta Bulkowski - A determined young woman, crippled with severe hunchback, will stop at nothing to fulfill her dream of seeing the world. This is the story of how she finds happiness. Animation. 15 minutes. Rachel Johnson, CA.
  • Voice - A lonely man becomes fascinated with a shadow that appears on the wall of his apartment. Narrative. 10 minutes. Takeshi Kushida, Tokyo, Japan.
  • The Elephant's Song - A true and tragic tale of Old Bet, the first circus elephant in America, as recounted in song by her friend, an old farm dog. Animation. 8 minutes. Lynn Tomlinson, Owings Mills, MD.
  • Woody’s Order - Family legend has it that Ann was ordered into this world in 1956 by Woody, her eight year old brother with cerebral palsy. Ann’s performance details her struggles to understand her brother disorder, build a career and sustain her sanity while fulfilling her sacred obligations. Documentary. 16 minutes. Written by Seth Kramer, Red Hook, NY and performed by Ann Talman, NY, NY.

After the showing, attendees can enjoy dinner at one of several local restaurants offering discounts to festival-goers. Participating restaurants are: Iachetti's, Kosher Nosh, Jalepenos, Francesca's, Tani's and John Boy's.
