Iron Physical Therapy Offers Telehealth Amid Coronavirus
Virtual appointments a safe option for hard hit NJ residents.

With a ‘shelter in place’ order in effect and many clinics closed, people with pain or injury may feel like they don’t have many options. To support these individuals, Iron Physical Therapy in Midland Park and Caldwell, NJ is offering telehealth sessions so patients can receive the same type of services they would get in the clinic from the comfort of their own homes.
“This unusual circumstance has provided an opportunity for people to slow down and take care of themselves,” said Owner and DPT, Dr. Geno Mayes. “A one-on-one virtual appointment can address a wide range of issues from chronic pain you’ve been dealing with for months to preventing injury with targeted exercises while you're taking a break from competitive sports.”
During a video telehealth session, the Doctors of Physical Therapy at Iron Physical Therapy will fully evaluate a patient’s current condition and guide them through a customized plan to get out of pain and become stronger every day without relying on pills or other unhealthy coping strategies.

Mayes says you don’t need to have a major injury or any special equipment to see results from at-home PT. “A patient called the other day because they were experiencing back and neck pain now that they're working from home. In a few sessions, I was able to help them manage their discomfort with a few easy exercises and also set up a much healthier workstation to prevent future issues.”
Iron Physical Therapy has been offering telehealth for the last four weeks with over 200 sessions, and patients are responding very positively to the virtual experience. A recent telehealth patient wrote, “I’m looking forward to another productive session tomorrow! Thanks IronPT for continuing to do what you do!”
Insurance companies are also making telehealth a feasible option. “In light of the current situation, most insurance companies are covering and promoting telehealth, and we are always happy to verify your specific coverage before a session. We also offer reasonable self-pay rates for those without coverage,” said Iron Physical Therapy Co-Owner, Meri Mayes.
