Koo Looks to Take Starting Job at Georgia Southern

Ridgewood native Young Hoe-Koo has a prime opportunity to snatch a starting role as placekicker for the Georgia Southern University Eagles.

The Statesboro Herald reports the rising freshman is in the mix with three others to claim the starting job. Eagles kickers last year nailed only 8 of 22 field goals, seemingly giving Koo a leg up on the competition.

“I think it’s wide open, and I’m going to work as hard as I can to try to get that spot,” Koo told the paper.

The Ridgewood High School graduate was considered by many to be the best kicker from New Jersey in the 2013 class.

Correction: Georgia State, not Georgia Southern, was incorrectly cited as the school.
