Mexican Food Returning To Woodcliff Lake

WOODCLIFF LAKE, NJ – Mexican food will soon return to Woodcliff Lake.

Sol, a new restaurant featuring Mexican and Latin cuisine, is taking over the Kinderkamack Road location formerly occupied by Blue Moon Mexican Café sometime next month.

The casual restaurant features traditional Mexican dishes, like tacos, tamales and enchiladas, as well as skirt steaks, seafood and paella, which, according to its website, draw from the owners’ Spanish and Argentinian background. The menu will also offer a variety of vegetarian and gluten free items, according to its website.

Sol will also offer catering, as well as a rewards program for patrons.

In October 2019, Blue Moon shuttered its doors after nearly two decades in business and sold the building to another restaurateur. At the time, Howard Felixbrod, the owner and founder of Blue Moon Mexican Café, told Pascack Press newspaper that "business pressures" such as an increase in minimum wage and competition from app-based food delivery services made it difficult to keep the location open.

Over the years, Blue Moon Mexican Café, which is known for its Mexican fare, kid-friendly meals and margaritas, has donated more than $542,500 to local non-profit groups that have participated in the Woodcliff Lake restaurant's "community nights" program. Under the program, organizations can dine at the restaurant and 20% of the sales generated will go back to the charity.
