Pools Around Ridgewood, Glen Rock: Where To Swim This Summer
With summer just around the corner, you may be looking for a place around Ridgewood or Glen Rock to take a swim. We've got you covered.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Summer is just around the corner, and you may be planning now to find activities to keep the kids busy — and cool. An obvious summer favorite pastime is spending those hot afternoons at the local pool.
The state recently issued guidance for pools to follow, so they can safely operate during the coronavirus pandemic.
So where near Ridgewood or Glen Rock can you take a dip? We've compiled this guide of local pools to help you and your family stay cool this summer.

- Mahwah Municipal Pool: The pool will reopen for Memorial Day Weekend, and will still "adhere to all guidance provided from the State regarding safety procedures that need to be in place," township officials said.
- Wyckoff YMCA Aquatics Programs: The Wyckoff Family YMCA has a year-round aquatics program — both instructional and recreational — for "all ages, abilities, levels and interests." The YMCA has two pools for members.
- Ridgewood's Graydon Pool: According to the Ridgewood Recreation Department, the pool "features include an accessibility ramp for entry into the water for those with special needs, a shaded playground and sitting area, water play fountains, shade kites, Adirondack chairs, a picnic area with charcoal grills, a sheltered pavilion, and the Water's Edge Cafe. Additional amenities include volleyball, basketball, shuffleboard, four-squares, hop-scotch, backgammon and a lending library." However, some could be limited amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Glen Rock Municipal Pool: The municipal pool is olympic-sized with eight lanes, a diving board and a 25-foot-high slide. There is also a children's pool with "a dozen different water features" including sprinklers and "interactive faucets."
- Paramus Municipal Pool: "The gem of Paramus," according to officials, was established in 1964. The pool is set to open Memorial Day weekend and, new for this year, out-of-town members no longer need a sponsor to join the pool. Better yet, no additional fees will apply to those non-residents.
- Teaneck's Votee Park Pool: The pool located in the northwest section of Votee park is open daily from "the third or fourth Saturday in June ... through Labor Day." It is one of two Teaneck pools.
- Teaneck's Hawthorne Park Pool: The other Teaneck pool is located at Hawthorne Park. This above ground pool also opens in June and runs through Labor Day. It was closed for the 2020 season amid the coronavirus pandemic.
- Westwood's Pascack Valley Swim Club: The swim club, which has been open for more than 50 years, is open to anybody, community member or not. From the club: "The swim club, which resides on three acres of woodland, cools things off with two pools, a water slide, and giant umbrellas stuck into the lush lawn. It also features a playground and picnic area, where families can cook hot dogs and burgers on charcoal grills. A wonderful place for families and parties."
- Hillsdale's Stonybrook Swim Club: Coming off a year when the club was voted the best in Bergen County by 201 Magazine, Stonybrook is set to open Memorial Day weekend. From the club: "Residing on the eastern edge of Hillsdale, the 12-acre property of Stonybrook is the perfect summer club for the entire family. Kids can jump into our diving pool, or slide down our 14 ft. slide, while parents swim in our heated competition pool. The swim club also offers members a lot more: a snack bar, a basketball court, parties, live bands, and playgrounds. Our club has a total of 5 pools; for different ages or activities. We also offer learn-to-swim programs, on top of our swim and dive teams."
- Fair Lawn's Memorial Pool: The pool will open Wednesday, June 23 this year, recreation officials announced. More details on the opening, and what to expect this year, "will be available soon," officials said on the pool website.
