Ridgewood High School Tabs New Principal
The Board of Education approved the appointment of Jeffrey Nyhuis, a veteran of the district and longtime administrator.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Jeffrey Nyhuis will step into the role of principal at Ridgewood High School this summer after over a decade as an administrator.
The Board of Education approved the appointment of Nyhuis, whose current title is acting co-principal, at a Monday meeting.
“Mr. Nyhuis’ leadership style is one of collaboration and thoughtful analysis of all points of view. This is one of his many attitributes that has contributed to making Ridgewood High School a welcoming and positive learning environment,” said Superintendent Thomas Gorman.

“I look forward to the continued success of our comprehensive high school program under the leadership of Mr. Nyhuis.”
Nyhuis will replace Gorman, who served as the principal at Ridgewood High before accepting the superintendent job this year. Read more: Gorman Accepts Ridgewood Schools Superintendent Role

Over a career spanning two decades, Nyhuis rose from math teacher to administrator all within Ridgewood Public Schools.
"In September of 1996, I stepped in to Ridgewood High School for the the first time to teach mathematics. Nearly 25 years later, I am honored and humbled to accept the role as the next Ridgewood High School Principal," said Nyhuis.
"My experience as a teacher, coach, supervisor, and assistant principal have served me well, allowing me to forge valuable connections and relationships with so many wonderful people. I am so moved by the overwhelming expressions of support and looking forward to leading RHS into the future. Thank you for this opportunity."
Nyhuis earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics for Secondary Education from East Stroudsburg University, as well as a Master of Educational Leadership from College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey. He holds a New Jersey Certification in Guidance Personnel Servics: Education Administration from Montclair State University.
His tenure as principal will begin on July 1, the district said.
