Ridgewood Teen Qualifies For Taekwondo World Championships
Liam Woods is ranked No. 1 in his division in the United States. He needs help going to the 2019 Cadet World Championship in Uzbekistan.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Liam Woods is the best in the United States at taekwondo. Now he wants to be the best in the world.
Woods is the No. 1 ranked 14-year-old in the United States for his weight class. He has won 12 state and national championships since he started participating in the sport when he was 8.
"I've really enjoyed the sport and meeting new people and coaches and making new friends," Woods said.

Woods has qualified for the 2019 Cadet World Championship in Uzbekistan. The trip costs thousands of dollars. Woods' parents started a GoFundMe page to help raise $6,000 to fund the trip.
"As we are all so excited and proud for his accomplishment, it is also a huge financial commitment," Woods parents, Luana and Billy said on the GoFundMe campaign.
